Josh Van Hoesen grew up in the small town of Campton, NH before moving with his mom and brother to the island of Nantucket, MA at a young age. While attending high school, he worked at the oldest operating windmill in the United States, running tours and grinding corn.
Josh made his way to New Haven after being accepted into the University of New Haven, where he took classes in electrical engineering before switching to computer science. During his college years, he was an integral part of the student government, and collaborated with others to manage a multi-million dollar operating budget.
After attending the university, he obtained a job at Accounting System Integrators (ASI) in North Haven as a junior software developer, writing accounting software tailored for non-profit organizations. Shortly thereafter he purchased his first home in New Haven with the hopes of eventually turning it into an affordable rental property.
In 2019 he purchased his second home in New Haven and currently rents the first below market rate. He now spends his time divided between managing a team of developers as Director of Engineering at ASI LLC, chairing the Westville/West Hills Community Management Team in his district, and helping various community members with IT issues when they arise.
